What is the Perfect Wedding Cake? Is it sweet and soft? Chocolatey, or cheesy? This month, photographer Charné Baird teamed up with Louis Gervais Fine Foods & Catering to explore that question. With the help of Louis Gervais Fine Foods Pastry Chef Debra Worger, Baird created a 3-minute stop motion video illustrating the creation of the perfect wedding cake.
Charné, a student of the Professional Photo-Imaging Program at Langara College in Vancouver, and sister of our first cook Ashlynn Pattrick, wanted to meld her two passions, food and photography, to create her final design project and we were happy to oblige. The video, which can be viewed below, follows Debra as she puts together a 3-tier, love-themed wedding cake. The unique editing style Charné employs adds a touch of surrealism to the action, all while showing off her photography skills with the dynamic subject. Debra, who is responsible for the many sweet & sinful treats found in our North Vancouver bistro and in our catering menus, crafted the cake from white sponge cake and buttercream frosting, and decorated it with fondant hearts and fresh spring tulips. Yum!
We hope you enjoy this behind-the-scenes peek into the methods of our madness! You can also view Charne’s full blog post here!
