Now that the leaves are starting to turn their vibrant colours and Fall is officially here, we’d like to reflect on some of our favourite Vancouver weddings and their awesome catered events from the past year. We created some creative wedding menus this year; from Hawaiian themed items with Trio of Poke of Mushu Pork Wraps, to completely gluten and dairy free dinners for over 200 guests. The diversity among the couples was vast too; some had been together for over 25 years already and others were only 25 years old!
Here are some of our most memorable Vancouver weddings, we hope you enjoy!
In February, we worked along side Jenna from Revel Events to cater Heidi and Larry’s wedding at Heritage Hall. This Alaskan couple wanted flavours and foods for all their guests, young and old, from near and far! We hosted an Oyster shucking station, as well as Swedish Meat Ball station, along with Mac’n’Cheese buffet, and an assorted dessert buffet!
Joanna and Dario’s show stopper catered wedding reception in Vancouver was quite a cultural event! The social media mogul and his Argentinean bride had a lavish wedding put together by Shahzyah of Elegance Events at the Vancouver Lookout with both Italian and Argentinean inspired fare – an abundance of freshly shucked oysters, risotto served from a hollowed parmesan wheel and made-to-order crab cakes on an arugula salad. Their cocktail style wedding reception ended with an “hora loca” lead by traditional, booty shakin’ dancers!
Nogol and Joram planned their Vancouver wedding with us over email and Skype dates all the way from Australia! After a sunset wedding at Jericho beach, their guests were treated to cocktails and canapes at a party that went all night long. Their catered wedding menu included an abundance of passed appetizers and platters: Prawns Piquante, Grilled Portabella Skewers, Nugget Potato Bites, Tapenade Tabouleh Coins and many more!
For Kara and David, their woodland themed Vancouver wedding took place in a beautiful backyard setting with gorgeous succulent centre pieces made by the bride herself. Their West Coast, wedding catering menu included fresh fig and roquefort appetizers and fresh water baby shrimp and mascarpone endive leaves, followed by a relaxed BBQ menu with Beef Brochettes sizzling off the BBQ and grilled sesame soy chicken garnished with heaps of fresh and colourful pea shoots.
Angela and Will’s wedding took place at the Roundhouse Community Centre, one of the few Vancouver venues who can accommodate 200+ guests for a seated catered wedding. Their space is beautiful and as a Vancouver wedding caterer, we love working in their high end and spacious kitchen. The catered wedding menu, served family style, was completely customized to be gluten and dairy free. With the exception of a few desserts, we pulled off a three course dinner with assorted canapes and late night all according to this dietary requirement. Working along side day of planners, Dene & Mandy from Vancouver based Best Day Ever Creative Events, made the execution all that much more smooth!
From the entire team here at Louis Gervais Fine Foods & Catering, we’d like to congratulate all of our newly weds! It was a pleasure to work and celebrate your weddings with all of you and we wish you nothing but the best!
Love, Louis, Elisa, & Nicole
