This past summer was a busy one for our catering team at Louis Gervais (and so far fall is showing no signs of slowing down). Summer saw us travelling around – and beyond – the Lower Mainland every weekend, setting up our pop-up kitchen at some of the areas most spectacular private homes and venues.

catering casa miaSo we thought we’d profile a few of our favorite catering venues and share our teams inside scoop on just what made the experience so special (and sometimes challenging!) at each.

To start, we’re going to shine the Louis Gervais Catering spotlight on a well-known Vancouver Estate build in 1932 and the perfect venue for our clients, Gavin and Orla’s late summer wedding: Casa Mia Heritage Mansion.

Chef Louis and the team worked their culinary magic for over a hundred guests at this iconic Estate tucked off of SW Marine Drive – working out of a massive open space they transformed into a fully functioning catering and prep area (it wasn’t your normal kitchen, but our pros are ready to make anything work to get the job done!)

And work away they did, preparing a feast like no other complete with oyster bar (featuring Kusshi Oysters), Timbale salad with candied nuts, goat cheese and presented wrapped in julienne cucumber. Guests craving steak were satiated with thick cut and juicy tenderloin served with peppercorn sauce. We also featured

Provençal lamb chops accented with lavender. There was poached locally caught salmon, our signature firecracker prawns, and Portobello mushroom caps stuffed with charred garam masala scented tofu and much more.

Perhaps our favorite dish to present at this memorable Casa Mia fête was the elaborate (and delicious!) cheesecake stations which were paraded into the buzzing dining space – complete with sparklers to set the celebratory stage.

Measuring at 20,728 square feet, Casa Mia Estate features three levels of space surrounded by expansive and lush gardens that surround the Spanish-style property.

catering Casa MiaThis heritage mansion set quite the stage for the evening. Tasteful décor and hundreds of twinkling lights strung throughout a massive tented dining area to create an intimate space that kept the rain at bay.
