Wednesday’s Romantic Recommendation – Basil

by Louis Gervais / In Recipes, Tips & Advice

Basil – such an underrated and ubiquitous herb. It could be growing in your own back yard, but are you making use of its erotic elements? In ancient Rome, Basil was known as the herb of lovers. Its sweet and spicy aroma is believed to have healing powers that can cure any headache, or even a debilitating migraine (no more excuses!).  It also, fortunately, promotes circulation and simultaneously warms the body, creating ideal conditions for love and intimacy.

For this week’s Romantic Recommendation, we’ve found a shoo-in concoction for romance: Gin and Basil. Check out this video from WatchMojo.com for a simple and delicious recipe, called a Basil Smash, and try it out on your sweet heart this weekend!

Ingredients

  • Fresh Basil
  • Gin of choice
  • Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Simple Syrup (1 part water, 1 part dissolved sugar)
  • Ice

Directions

Add Gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and Basil to your glass and muddle (crush basil to brings out its flavours).  Shake with ice and pour over ice. Garnish with basil leaves on top. Voila!

We tried making our own version of this using San Pellegrino Limonatta, basil, and gin – it was quick and very refreshing!
