Last Minute Party Planning for the Holidays

by Louis Gervais / In Recipes, Tips & Advice

Planning a holiday party for your friends, family, or colleagues can be hair splitting, even at the best of times. There’s picking a date, creating a guest list and sending out all of the invites, putting together a song list, cleaning the kitchen, bathroom, entertaining room and more. Then there is decorating, picking an outfit, getting you nails, hair, and makeup done. So who has the time to grocery shop, prep, cook and serve too? Well, Louis Gervais Fine Foods and Catering does.

If you’re looking to shake some of the stress of last minute party planning, look to the experts for advice, inspiration, and service.

Advice

You don’t have to be Martha Stewart to turn your home into the perfect Christmas entertaining space. Using items from your home and back yard, you can quickly create a festive ambience.

  • Gather tree branches (specifically coniferous trees such as Pine, Spruce, Firs) and pine cones to use as centre pieces; they provide both a festive display and a lovely scent. Pair with some white or glass bowls and lots of candles, and you’re done! Check out some examples here from our Holidays Pinterest Board.
  • Want to add a fun activity with out blowing the bank? Photobooths are all the rage today, so make your own using Christmas wrapping paper as your back drop!
  • Instantly create an ambience using free online music streaming, such as 8tracks.com. Select the exact mix of music you want and leave it alone. Whether you want classic Christmas tunes or some swanky jazz instrumentals, 8tracks will cycle through different playlists all tailored to the keywords you’ve chosen. We love this Season of Snow and Merry playlist!

Inspiration

A holiday party just isn’t complete with out a signature cocktail, so here is a tasty and tart recipe for you to try this year.

The French 75
1.5 oz of Gin
1 oz of fresh lemon juice
½ oz of simple syrup
Champagne or Sparkling Wine

Mix Gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup together in a Champagne flute or saucer, top with Champagne and garnish with a lemon twist. Substitute grapefruit for lemon and call it a Gervais 75!
